The setting is an attractive large, bright and airy Victorian house with a homely feeling. It meets all the child care standards but continues to be a place where people would love to live.

The nursery has been running for 40 years and combines a positive interest in child care and early years education. The owner is a qualified nurse and midwife. The Registered Manager Sarah Cray-Savill is ‘home grown’ starting at the setting in 2008 as a trainee practitioner and who has been supported to continue her qualifications whilst working full time and in the Summer of 2016 completed her BA Hons Degree in Early Years.

Lets see what the children have been up to this month

The Royal Wedding

The royal wedding was celebrated throughout the nursery with lots of artwork including crowns, bunting and flags. All of the children had an afternoon tea picnic in the garden complete with sandwiches, scones and fruit.

The Preschool Unit

The children in the preschool unit have been talking about sea creatures and have created an under the sea board complete with jellyfish and mermaids. Next they are going to be exploring pirates and will be engaging in activities including treasure hunts, map and telescope making and imaginary play.

The Toddler Unit

The bumble bees have been exploring colours and shapes through printing and painting. They have also been engaging in lots of activities with the opportunity to sort colours and shapes and have been talking about how they are the same or different.

The Dragonflies have been talking about what they like doing in the summer and will be creating a summer board, they would like any photographs of any activities the children enjoy over the summer.

Flower Kingdom

The children in the flower kingdom have been creating some summer themed artwork for their summer board including ice lollies and flowers. They have also been exploring different textures by sticking with different materials.

If you have any postcards or leaflets from anywhere you visit over the summer these would be greatly appreciated.

Spare clothes-:

If you have an unwanted clothes at home these would be greatly appreciated for our ‘spare’ box. Also if your child has used any spare clothes recently please could we ask that these are returned as our stocks are running low.

Food hygiene-:

We are very happy to share with you that following our food hygiene inspection in the new year that we have remained with a 5 star grading!

Uniform-:

After discussions with parents it has come to out attention that many children have specific clothes for nursery. Therefore we have begun to introduce an optional uniform for children above the age of two. If you are interested please speak to a member of staff who can provide you with an order form.

Parking-:

When parking in Swan road please do remember that it is illegal to park on a curb or to close to a junction. Thank you

Please remember that the nursery is a no mobile phone zone. Please make sure that you do not get out your mobile phone until you are off of nursery premises.

In the interest of child safety please do not let anyone into the nursery who you do not know even if they are coming in the gate at the same time as you.

For safety reasons it is very important that you sign your children in and out .

Policies -: Some of our policies have been updated. Please feel free to read any of these at anytime. The policy folders are located on the shelf in the entrance hall.

Childcare support-:

The government has launched a new web page which brings together all the current childcare support available in one place – www.gov.uk/childcaresupport

Please be aware that if you are accessing the tax free childcare scheme and have this arranged this for a specific date each month e.g. 10th …..if this date falls on a weekend then this will not be released for a few days after and will become a late payment.

 

To protect children with allergies please can children not be brought in eating any types of food from home, thank you.
